Victoria Wood Quotes

Comedian

Biography

Victoria Wood was born in 1953 and tragically died at the young age of 62 after a short but brave battle with cancer. Wood shot to fame via the TV talent show New Faces back in 1974, whilst a student at Birmingham University. With this break she found fame, and became well known for her BBC sketch Acorn Antiques and comedy Dinnerladies. She won five Baftas including two for her one-off ITV drama Housewife. She was a comedy icon and scores of comedians came out to praise her contribution to comedy after she lost her life. Her long time comedy partner Julie Walters remarked that she was "too heart sore to comment - the loss of her is incalculable". We are sure that her work will inspire generations to come and despite losing her at such a young age, this will not be the last we hear of Victoria Wood.
