Muhammad Ali, born Cassius Clay is a former American boxer. Born in January, 1942, Clay was widely considered one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. His reputation is such that he still inspires countless boxers even today. Controversial and highly charismatic, Ali was box office wherever he went. He was known for lightening quick skills in the ring and an equally quick wit outside of the ring. Highly principled, having refused conscription into the U.S. Military citing religious beliefs, Ali was adored and often despised - sometimes in equal measure. After he was done with boxing, Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson's syndrome which he bravely battled since 1984 before sadly losing his life in 2016. History will judge Ali as one of the great figures of the 20th Century and at Getinspired365 he is one of our most popular figures.
A red-and-white Schwinn bicycle launched his boxing career. This bicycle, which belonged to Clay, was stolen in 1954. Devastated such a thing could happen he vowed to hunt down the culprit and 'pummel' him. The police officer that Clay reported the crime to suggested that if he wanted to do that he'd better learn how to fight. The police officer happened to be a boxing trainer and so took Clay under his wing. Six weeks later, Clay won his first bout in a split decision.
