Anais Nin was born in 1903 and died aged 73. She was born and raised in France by Cuban parents but in her adult life settled in the United States. It was whilst in the US that she become an acclaimed author and wrote on a plethora of subjects that ranged from political essays to erotica. Most of her well known works were published posthumously.
In 1923, Nin married Hugh Parker Guiler. In 1955, whilst still married to Guiler, Nin married Henry Miller - her longtime lover.
