On this day in 1923 the Walt Disney Company was founded. This was only after Walt been forced to dissolve his first animation company. At one point things were so bad that he could not pay his rent and was surviving by eating dog food. Walt never gave up, he knew he could make a success of animation. Have you been knocked back? Have you hit the bottom? Time to dust yourself off and go again. Walt did, and 2 years after eating dog food he was creating the worlds most successful animation company.

Walt Disney was born in 1901 and died aged just 65. In 1923 the Walt Disney Company was founded. This was only after Walt been forced to dissolve his first animation company. At one point things were so bad that he could not pay his rent and was surviving by eating dog food. Walt never gave up, he knew he could make a success of animation. Walt created the the characters of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy and once he'd brought these to screens he then went out about creating a theme park. Disney was a big believer in not giving up and 2 years after eating dog food he was creating the worlds most successful animation company which resulted in him receiving more Oscar nominations than anyone else past or present.

Walt Disney was the original voice of Mickey Mouse. Mickey Mouse was originally named Mortimer Mouse until Walt's wife Lillian stepped in and persuaded Walt to change it to Mickey.
