ABOUT MARK TWAIN

Mark Twain, born Samuel Langhorne Clemens in 1835, was one of the greatest authors to have ever of lived. Twain's life spanned 74 years and in that time he created masterpieces such as "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and "Huckleberry Finn". He was raised in Hannibal, Missouri, which was to provide the setting for Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer. Having always been interested in words, Twain started out as a typesetter and helped out his older brother by contributing articles to his newspaper. He was known for his razor sharp wit - which often found their way into his writings. Twain's popularity soared during the later years of his life and as such became friends with all kinds of influential people including presidents and European royalty. Some consider Twain the "father of American literature" and you'd be hard pushed to disagree with that.

DID YOU KNOW?

Twain was fascinated with science and almost bankrupted himself investing in failed inventions. He developed a close and lasting friendship with Nikola Tesla, and the two spent much time together in Tesla's laboratory.
