Alan Watts was born in 1915 and died aged just 58. He was a famous British philosopher but made his name in America, having moved there in 1938. Whilst in America he gained a degree in theology and in 1945 became a priest before moving to California where he wrote renowned books such as "The Way of the Zen". His talks, and his works, often appear on inspiring videos on the Internet as what he said was so profound, but delivered in such a simple and clear way.
